  • Tempo Rubato 34 Breese Street Brunswick, VIC, 3056 Australia (map)

Tempo Rubato have invited FQ to program a series of five concerts to be performed in the venue each Monday in August.

CONCERT 1: "Solace" curated by Lee Bradshaw - past FQ composer program participant

Tony Gould, piano
Lachlan Davidson, sax
Ben Robertson, bass
and special guest Rachel Atkinson, cello
(Fidelio String Quartet, ex-MSO, Artistic Director - Nefes Ensemble)

Since Flinders Quartet met composer/songwriter/producer Lee Bradshaw in 2020, he has embedded himself in Melbourne’s musical community. A brilliant arranger, composer and producer, they knew he was the right person to be entrusted with the opening night of FQ’s inaugural Tempo Rubato residency.

‘The music of Solace (Tony Gould, Lachlan Davidson and Ben Robertson) is a representation of the collective imaginations of four highly skilled musicians, improvisers and composers. Freedom and control in an ever shifting balance, expression and storytelling - ever present, understated virtuosity constantly engaging and bewildering the listener. Beauty of tone and touch underpin a delicate mix of classical and jazz, never falling too far in either direction, always maintaining a uniqueness and an intention of musicality.'
- Lee Bradshaw
