WEBERN Six Bagatelles for string quartet, Op. 9
For us, Webern’s tantalisingly short Six Bagatelles have always represented the aural version of a Haiku. On the surface, disjointed and atonal, they are in fact works of immense emotion and beauty.
We invite you to watch these videos, immerse yourself in Webern’s sound world and have a go at writing Haiku poetry.
A Haiku poem has three lines. The first contains five syllables, the second seven, and the third five. You may choose to write just one Haiku for one of the Bagatelles, or you may choose to write six Haikus representing one for each Bagatelle. The choice is yours!
We will be collating and choosing our favourites to be presented with the Bagatelles at our first concerts for 2020.
Simply email your entry to admin@flindersquartet.com by midnight 14 February 2020.
Make sure the poems are clearly marked with the relevant Bagatelle that inspired them.
