AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
I just wanted to say how much I loved the Bartók. It was utterly captivating, and such a great way to bring that quite difficult music to an audience. I wish we could have it here so that more people could experience it. I only managed the digital performance, but that has its advantages sometimes when you have the opportunity to concentrate with no distractions. It was a real treat.
I would like to express my deep appreciation for a stupendously magnificent performance this afternoon at Montesalvat. The playing was so expressive with each instrument seeming in perfect concert with all the others while Richard Piper artfully and expressively created the mood for each piece without in any way seeming to take away from the centrality of the story and the music.
It’s years since I had the leisure to attend a live performance but doing so today reminded me of the fact that despite the purity of recorded music it cannot compare with a live performance such as this.
Bravo to you all

Just to say that I have really enjoyed watching FQ's open rehearsals recently. I'm watching the Bartok now and it's very educational. Please keep doing open rehearsals!
… albeit slowly, the wheels have been turning for me re Margaret Sutherland. I have now discovered the Australian Music Centre online downloads and they’ve got a lot of MS material available. There’s probably more I suppose of sheet music than recordings of use to me. However I now have bought the Violin Sonata (1925), the Sonatina for violin and piano (1957) and the Nocturne for violin and piano (1944), all of which I’m getting know. I’m someone who has worshipped Beethoven, I’m a Liszt freak, and I’ve spent a lot of time on Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Faure, Rachmaninov et al. Well now I seem to be in a Sutherland phase. I am particularly taken with the Violin Sonata. I think there’s a lot more to go with this so good luck with any further plans to perform and especially record any more of her works. I’m sure it would be rewarding for us all.
… your concert with Melody and Katy was an absolute delight. Ashlyn's interpretation was delivered with clarity and charm. Vehicles such as F.Q. play such a vital role providing an outlet for contemporary local composers.[If I had a hammer,I'd break any remnant glass ceilings]

Great concert. Quartet No.5 is technically difficult but handled expertly. Complex music but made quite approachable with excerpts from the book. Short duos worked a treat and the excerpt from the 2 Quartet rounded it out beautifully. Great time. Please pass on praise and thanks.

I really enjoyed the Bartok concert last year at Montsalvat, especially so since it was my last concert before the long lockdown and it lingered in my mind for a bit longer than most. And I learnt a bit too!
The chat commentary was really interesting too, it gave us a perspective of how you as players experienced the music while rehearsing it and the connection with people who composed the music. It was also interesting to read in your chat about what you saw when you looked back at your own concert recording. Having chat and the video was very connecting for the viewer as well. A fascinating evening all round, just wonderful!

Loved your concert last night. The voice of your opera singer was amazing, just so rich and warm. Fitted perfectly with the quartet. I was not expecting opera with a strings quartet, but it worked!
