With the September 6th Victorian Government announcement about Stage IV restrictions being extended and the release of the roadmap for reopening, we now know that the remainder of our October 2020 concerts will be cancelled. And that it’s unlikely we will perform in front of a live audience until 2021.
A full list of the cancelled events can be found at the top of this page.
Our Montsalvat, Collins Street Baptist Church and Melbourne Recital Centre subscribers and ticket holders are entitled to a full refund via the Melbourne Recital Centre box office. If you paid using EFTPOS or cash over the counter, the Melbourne Recital Centre box office team will be in touch to assist you in receiving your refund. If you purchased online or over the phone, they will refund your credit card. This will happen automatically, you don't need to contact them to obtain your refund.
We realise that not everyone is in a position to donate back the cost of their ticket, but if you are able to help us as we plan for 2021, we would be extremely grateful. Every little bit helps!
Melbourne Recital Centre box office are not able to simply pass this on to FQ as a donation, unfortunately. Instead, they will refund your ticket/s as outlined above and then if you would like to pass this onto us a donation, we invite you to do that here: https://www.givenow.com.au/flindersquartet (which will also generate a tax-deductible receipt).
If you have any questions or concerns about these concert cancellations, or making a donation, please contact us. If you have any questions or concerns about your Melbourne Recital Centre, Montsalvat or Collins Street Baptist Church ticket refund, please contact Melbourne Recital Centre box office at boxoffice@melbournerecital.com.au.
We are still hopeful of being able to go ahead with our annual Composer Development Program later in the year, when we are able to be in the same room together to rehearse, workshop and perform (and we intend to live stream the workshop process and final performance).
We are also planning at least one other live streamed performance before the year’s end, with news about that to follow soon.
Let’s hope 2021 brings brighter news and lots of great live music-making.
Stay safe and well everyone,
Thibaud, Wilma, Helen and Zoe

We have received a couple of lovely messages from our audience offering to turn the cost of their June ticket into a donation for FQ. We value this support immensely and would receive this donation gratefully.
We apologise that it’s not more simple to turn your ticket into a donation for us, but it’s important that we (and Melbourne Recital Centre) follow the not-for-profit and charity rules regarding donations.
Due to COVID-19 concerns and the ban on non-essential mass gatherings, Canberra International Music Festival (May 1 to 10) has been cancelled. Among other programming, FQ was due to premiere Katy Abbott’s Hidden Thoughts II: Return to Sender at the festival. We are committed to ensuring the premiere of this work at a future date, and will provide an update about our plans when possible.
Woodend Winter Arts Festival (June 5 to 8) has been postponed.
